BioControl Systems Inc., leader in innovative food safety solutions, including rapid microbiology test kits and hygiene monitoring systems is looking for a Research Scientist - Molecular Biology R&D at its headquarters in Bellevue, WA.
The Research Scientist - Molecular Biology is an integral member of the Research and Development team and has primary responsibility for conducting a varied range of experimental projects and R&D support functions toward the continued development of BioControl’s line of commercially successful Assurance GDS food pathogendetection tests
Duties and Responsibilities:
Organize and perform experiments at bench level to evaluate, optimize, and validate formulations, methods and kits for amplification-based food pathogen detection assays.
Perform sample preps, PCR testing and various assays with pathogenic bacteria, make PCR master mixes and other reagents.
Generate and organize experiment records and data summaries. Participate in experimental designs and results analysis.
Interact as a member of a fast-moving interdisciplinary team of micro-, molecular-, and immuno-biologists in an industrial R&D lab.
Provide rapid R&D technical support, data analysis, and training for groups including Reagent Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Tech Services, Sales, Marketing and Management when needed.
Generate and edit SOP documents for reagent formulations manufacturing and quality assurance.
Education, training, experience:
Skills & Requirements:
Masters degree or equivalent in Biology, Microbiology, or other Biotech-related science.
1+ years successful experience in a basic research or industry laboratory, in molecular diagnostics, PCR, or related biotechnologies.
A solid working understanding of basic molecular biology and biochemistry is required. Practical knowledge and experience with PCR design and optimization and general molecular biology methods and reagent formulations are desirable; microbiology, scientific instrumentation and software, DNA sequence data analysis are a plus.
Strong laboratory skills and understanding of scientific methods, analysis and troubleshooting, clear scientific thinking and communication. Versatility in an industrial for-profit R&D lab environment, initiative, and good organizational and administrative skills.
