Lead and manage the Center IT Project Management group that provides project and program management support services for all IT projects through the use of standard processes, procedures, practices, tools, techniques and templates. Supervise and build a reliable and effective IT project management staff and capability enabling IT personnel to successfully complete projects and achieve high client satisfaction.


The Center IT Project Management Office (PMO) Supervisor, working under the direction of the Center IT Projects & Business Operations Manager, establishes the vision and strategic and tactical direction of the IT Project Office and project management approach for IT. The IT PMO Supervisor manages a professional staff of Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Portfolio Analysts, guiding the activities of the group to provide successful completion of projects and effective processes, procedures, practices, tools, techniques and templates. The IT PMO Supervisor enforces compliance with established processes and procedures. The IT PMO Supervisor oversees the project portfolio health ensuring visibility and alignment of inter-project dependencies in execution and effective use of resources, and to drive resolution and mitigation of inter-project conflicts and risks. The IT PMO Supervisor ensures timely reporting to IT sponsors, functional sponsors and key stakeholders and the Executive Sponsor of the IT Project Portfolio.


Reports directly to the Manager, Center IT Project and Business Operations Office.


1.Provides supervision and direction including hiring, training, performance planning & evaluations, task management & assignment as well as handling disciplinary action, layoff and termination issues, to Center IT PMO staff, which includes up to 8 PM and contract FTE working on approximately 75 projects.
2.Defines staffing models and approach to achieve project delivery success; Establishes and manages Project management strategic and tactical vendor partnerships to ensure overall project portfolio success and skill development within the team
3.Establishes team and individual staff performance goals in alignment to department priorities and direction; conducts effective performance reviews providing staff clarity on their achievements and opportunities for improvement; provides input for merit and other performance based compensation
4.Provides project management training to project management and IT personnel.
5.Develops vision and long-term strategic plans to set the project management direction and support the future project management needs of the IT functions.
6.Develops and continuously improves methodology, standard processes, procedures, practices, tools, techniques and templates, leveraging best fit of industry good-practice, performance metrics, and lessons learned; and educates and direct training of IT personnel, functional partners and management in their use.
7.Manages project and process audit, control and compliance processes.
8.Reviews projects for quality and adherence to appropriate process, as well as for performance to scope, schedule and budget or other key success

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
•Four years of supervisory experience managing an information technology or IT project management staff demonstrating strong leadership, team building, communication and interpersonal skills.
•Experience in hiring, directing, and reviewing subordinate work to determine appropriate personnel actions as needed (performance review, promotion, merit pay, corrective action)
•Proven experience in planning technical and professional growth and defining development plans for direct reports.

•Project Management and IT Technical:
•Seven years of experience in leading progressively more complex IT projects, in planning, managing and executing multi-project IT programs, and/or managing and executing on a portfolio of projects.
•Experience in the creation and enforcement of standards, procedures, and methodologies.
•Proven experience in managing, planning, budgeting, forecasting and allocating resources for a variety of types of projects including software development (SDLC), package implementation, system integration, infrastructure (design/build), and facilities/construction.


•BA/BS degree in business administration, computer science or equivalent.
•Ability to collaborate with partner organization staff.
•Advanced interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills -- ability to communicate to varying audiences using a variety of approaches to get messages across
•Strong meeting facilitation skills.
•Ability to work independently and prioritize work as well as through team members
•Creative problem solving and strong decision making skills.
•Experience working in a matrixed environment.
